Daniel, like you I am a descendant of the man you say never existed. Pressley Norsworthy was born in 1805 in GA of parents born in NC. He married Misseniah Terry on 10 Jan 1827 in Montgomery Co AL. They raised ten children (not twelve, as family researchers used to think)in the China Grove community, Pike County AL. Misseniah died in 1874, and Pressley married again--to Martha E. Winters, widow, in December 1874 in Butler County AL. His new wife was no longer in Pressley's household in Pike County in the 1880 Census. I found Martha in the 1880 Census, living elsewhere.

I suggest you go to U.S. Censuses of Alabama, Pike County, for 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. In each, you will find Pressley and family.

Pressley moved to Sabine Parish about 1881 to be near two of his sons, A.J.(my great-grandfather) and L.L.(your line). He died 25 Nov 1885 and is buried in Lester Cemetery, one mile from Middle Creek Baptist Church and three miles from where I grew up.

My father had the tombstone placed, but made a mistake by having the name read PRESTON (I'm told that the old man was known as "Pres").
