I'm searching for the ancestors of my greatgrandmother Amanda Nored (b. 23 Mar 1857 probably Shelby Co., TN-d. 4 Jan 1924 Cleburne Co., AR). She married Hugh Hazelwood in 1883.
Her parents were William C. and Elizabeth A. "Betsy" Crisenberry [Quisenberry/Christenbury] Nored who were married in Henry Co., TN, 8 Sep 1838/39. I have William and Betsey in the 1840 Henry Co., TN, Census then the 1850 Shelby Co., TN, Census and then from 1860 on they were in Van Buren/Cleburne Co., AR.
I believe William C.'s parents were William and Nancy [Taylor] Nored married about 1806? in South Carolina? William and Nancy are listed in the 1850 Henry Co., TN, Census as Wm. Norred 70 SC, Nancy 55 NC. I have Wm. Norrod in the 1810 & 1820 Stewart Co., TN, Census and then the 1830-1850 Henry Co., TN, Census.
If William Norred was born in 1780 in South Carolina, the only Norreds I've found were "Norwoods". In 1775 a Benjamin Norwood and wife Mary sold land on Indian Creek around Newberry and Laurens Counties, SC. In the 1790 South Carolina Census there is a Samuel Norwood in the Cheraws Dist. and a Samuel Norwood in Newberry County. In the 1800 South Carolina Census there is a Benjamin Norwood in Laurens County. There is a Nancy Taylor in the 1800 Laurens Co., SC, Census with a female the age to be Nancy that married William Norred.
Does anyone know if my William Norred born abt. 1780 SC is the son of Benjamin Isaac Norrod b. 1735 - d. 1815/16 Stewart Co., TN, or someone else?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million.
