I'm hoping someone has encountered these people in a search and can help fill in any blanks about their parents or family.

Bessie (Mae?) Simpson (1892-1923) m. William Franklin Norris (1891-?) and had two children:
1911 Troy Norris
1915 Frances Norris
(possibly another infant between 1915 and 1920)

Frances was my grandmother and because of her adoption and then an early death we have very little information on her parents, her grandparents where they came from. Our genealogy research is at a dead end.

Bessie Simpson may have been from the Spartanburg area of SC and her father may have been a farmer named Tom. We believe she had a sister named Maude. Her death certificate is ridiculous and lacks much information. B. 1892 d. 1923 "Bessie" may also be a nick name. Most information on her is sketchy, at best.

William Norris remarried. He's lived in the Baltimore and DC area as well as the Gastonia area of NC. He may have had a brother named Henry who lived in the Charlotte, NC area.

Bessie received a head injury in a mill accident in the Charlotte/Gastionia, NC area and was institutionalized at the NC Hospital for the Insane in Morganton, NC sometime between 1917 and 1920. She shows up as a patient in a census in 1920 and her death certificate lists the hospital as the place of her death in 1923. She was 30.

The children were taken and placed in the Alexander Home in Charlotte. The father came back for Troy Norris. Frances was later adopted by John D. Whitehead. Frances later married Lawrence Willard Venters but died of a in 1946 at the age of 31. Her adoptive birth certificate lists her place of birth as Greenville but we suspect that may have been adoption fiction.

The mystery of Bessie Simpson Norris and William Franklin Norris and where they came from has been a subject in my family for years. Any information you find, even if it differs from what we've found in archives, would be greatly appreciated.

Other than Bessie's appearance in the hospital census and death certificate these two are off the grid. We can't even find the original birth certificates for the two children.
