Teresa, Robert Norris SR of Baldwin Co. seems to have been the father of Robert Norris who resided in Washington Co. GA. Robert JR, who died in 1826, left a widow Elizabeth who is later enumerated in Hancock Co. in 1830. An older son of Robert JR., Charles Norris b. circa 1811 N.C., placed a claim on the estate of younger brother Lewis K. Norris, b. circa 1825, in the late 1850's in Hancock Co. So, I do believe this is the same Robert Norris family ( Baldwin Co. Robert) and son Robert who came from Granville Co. N.C. Charles named one of his son's Joseph. Maybe after his grandfather? Anyway, in the 1820 census Robert Norris SR is in Baldwin Co. and has no children listed in his house hold and his age is listed as 45+. Then in 1830 he is still in Baldwin Co.GA along with a male 15-20 and another male 20-30, no females of that age so these are most likely not sons-in-law. I believe these could be son's of his deseased son Robert as there are missing older sons in Elizabeth's houshold. Now since Charles was b. circa 1811 in North Carolina I am assuming the two older sons in Robert SR's home were also born in North Carolina? Leaving me to conclude that neither of these men are Anderson's father just as you had suspected. However, the Joseph Norris I found in the land deed for 1810 in Greene Co. could still be the link to this Robert Norris family? Still searching, take care, Tracy P.S. I have found a marriage record for Christopher Parsons Norris dated Dec. 26, 1850 where he married his second wife Jane Woody b. 1798, in Carroll Co. GA (Anderson moved to Carroll Co. GA in 1859-60). Christopher is in Talladega Co. AL in 1850-1900 census years. When Anderson and his oldest son William bought land at the Greenville land office in Alabama in 1858 they both where listed as being from Talledaga? Also Lucy Amanda Norrs, Anderson's daughter lived with husband Freeman Norris in Talledaga before moving back to Carroll Co. GA. Later in 1880 Jane moved back to Carroll Co. as she is listed in her brother, John Woody's home. She's also listed in Coweta Co. GA for 1870, apparently, her and Christopher got divorced? I'm sure you know this is the Christopher who's father was Thomas SR. who died in 1833 and left a will in Laurens Co. S.C. and for whom Christopher listed his father as having been born in Maryland in the 1880 census. Also, it seems that Samuel C. Norris who was listed in Greene Co. GA in 1820, 1830 and later Harris Co. in 1840 was probably not from Edgfield but may have actually been from Laurens or Abbeville? Thanks again. Notify Administrator about this message?
