By further study of available Ashe Co, NC, records, I have tentatively identified the two males who are listed in the 1800 and 1810 censuses (born between 1790-1800) as possible sons of Ephraim Allison and wife Mary Morphew/Murphey, who married in 1792 in Wilkes Co, NC:
Isaac, listed on the 1820 Ashe Co census as being born between 1794-1802. [Not a known son to John Norris, Sr. of Ashe Co, who has been identified as father to many of the other Ashe Co Norrises of the time period.
This may be the same Isaac Norris(1797-1858), who m. Barbara Curtis (1803-?) and lived in Ashe County and Haywood County, NC. Their oldest child was Moses Norris(1825-1896), a Methodist minister, per a 7/99 posting by Barbara Farris to this forum.]
Ephraim, Jr., named in the 1807 Ashe Co court order book along with Ephraim Norris, Sr., and John Norris, to be among those who oversee the laying out of a new road. [I have not found his name in other records to date, and he is not a known son to John Norris.]
The two known daughters of Ephraim and Mary Norris are Mary, b. 1794, and Rebecca, b. 1795/6, who m. Thomas Allison, who is my ancestor.
I would like to hear from anyone who can help prove or disprove these two men--Isaac and Ephraim, Jr., as sons of Ephraim Allison of Ashe Co, NC. You may reach me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!
