Michelle: I quite think that Norred was a derivation of Norrie. There were so many spelling errors made when descendents' names were documented upon their arrival on US shores. I posted a message today relating to the origin of the Norrie name. You are correct in that Norrie is a Sept of the Clan MacLeod, but MacLeod of the Lewes, rather than MacLeod of MacLeod. The Chief is John MacLeod of MacLeod, Dunvegan Castle, Isle of Skye, Scotland. The current Chief of the Lewes is Torquil Roderick MacLeod, 6 Lambert Avenue, Sandy Bay 7005, Tasmania, Australia. The MacLeod genealogist is Brenda Joyce Fletcher, 2650 Wellington Drive, Marietta, GA 30062-4571. Tel: 770-973-1531. You could apply to become a Member of the Clan MacLeod Society in order to gain further knowledge by sending an annual subscription of $20.00 by check to The Clan MacLeod Society USA, 7909 Loch Lane, Columbia, SC 29223-2531. Provide them with your name, street address, city, state, zip, date of birth, spouse (if any). Children (if any) and their names and dates of birth. Also provide your full name, telephone number and e-mail address, and occupation. You will duly receive the Clan MacLeod Newsletter, which is published twice a year. Dame Flora MacLeod, 28th Chief of Clan MacLeod, traveled quite extensively in the US in the 1950s. The first worldwide Clan MacLeod Parliament was held at Dunvegan Castle in August of 1956 and has been held every fourth year since. Good luck, Margaret.
