The spellings of all surnames have changed down thru time.Certain groups would decide to change the spelling, for one reason or another. My Welborn,Wellborn,Willbourne, Wilbourn, Wilburn (many more) is a good example. My group of Norrells in S. C. spelled it with 2 R's and 2 L's.My grandmother was a Norrell, and that was the spelling her family used.My spelling is correct for my group. Narl was a spelling I saw somewhere recently. There are several variations. That is sometimes helpful, looking in court records.I suppose we are all related, though.
