Robert Normandin, 84, of Lake George, NY died at home surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. Born on July 2, 1916, in Whitehall, NY he was the son of the late Fred & Alida (Cholette) Normandin.
In his youth, Bob attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Glens Falls High School. Robert served with the National Guard during WWII. On November 4, 1952 he married Marie Lyons Johnson in Raleigh, NC. He was a longtime employee of JE Sawyer & Co in Glens Falls. After retiring from Sawyer's he operated his own plumbing & heating service and often gave freely of his time and materials to those in greatest need and without the means to pay.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Lake George. Mr. Normandin was Past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2486 of So Glens Falls. He was also member of several plumbing & heating professional organizations.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a daughter, Eva Marie Johnson Goldstein, a sister Rita Nichols and a brother Lionel Normandin.
Survivors in addition to his wife Marie Lyons (Johnson) Normandin of Lake George include six children; Maryann Bemis and her husband William of Atlanta, GA; James Normandin and his wife LaRue of Galway, NY; Nancy Normandin of Glens Falls, NY; Eileen Boyer and her husband Joseph of Hudson Falls, NY; Paul Johnson of Moreau, NY and Dorothy (Johnson) Seigel and her husband Kenneth of Rochester, NY; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and several neices, nephews and cousins.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1pm on Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mohigan St, Lake George, NY with the Rev. Joseph O'Brien, Pastor, officiating.
The Rite of Committal will follow at Southside Cemetary in the town of Moreau.
Bearers will be Stephen Goldstein, Aaron Goldstein, Joseph Boyer, Jr., Peter Normandin, David Delaney, and Michael Johnson.
The family suggests memorials in Mr. Normandin's name be sent to the Bay Ridge Emergency Squad, 1109 Ridge Rd. Queensbury, NY.
