I'm Ralph Norman from Newfoundland NJ. I have an old copy of William Mecabe's history of the Norman family of Northwest NJ. I got to know Bill quite well and he was from Watertown, Ct. In his research, there was a Peter A. Norman born July 14 1814 in Oak Ridge NJ - died February 19 1894 in Bridgeport, who moved to Bridgeport about 1938 and became a building contractor and a member of the Union Congregational Church. He was a mason and served one term in the Common Council. Norman St. Bridgeport is named for him. He was a very active member of the Republican party and a close friend of Phineas T.Barnum. Having told you this, there is no mention of Charles Norman. Peter's children were Georgiana, David, Wilhemina and Francis Peter. The children, it appears stayed in Bridgeport. Peter is buried in the Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Maybe a few more names will help in your research
