I discovered only a few weeks ago that Ann Mottram was my 3xG Grandmother. I also found Spring Bank in Mossley and visited to take photos.
My maternal Grandmother, Eveleen Shaw, was born in 1891 just down the same road, then known as Earnshaw Lane. Its name was changed to Staley Road about 1900. John and Ann were the parents of her paternal grandmother (who married Joseph Shaw) and they lived a little further along in Bottoms Fold, Cheshire Street in the UK census for 1861 & 1871.
I have deduced that their daughter, Ann, married Gideon Vautry (or Vantry) who lived at Spring Bank.
However, I dont know which of their daughters married Joseph Shaw. Joseph and his wife seem to have expired before 1871 because their sons, John and Joe lived with their Grandparents in Bottoms Fold in 1871 UK census.
Its possible they were victims of an accident or epidemic.
John and Ann had 7 daughters and 1 son.
