My father, Karl Nolte, was born 8/30/1887 in Westfalen/Westphalen Germany, he told one of his daughters that there was no town near where he was born. I have no knowledge of whom his parents were. He had siblings, I believe from his mother, who might have been a second wife, and from his father's 1st marriage. He did sponsor who I befieve were his sister's children, Sieberts, to come to the USA. The Sieberts settled in Michigan and in Chicago IL.
Karl Nolte came to the United States around 1909, settled in Baltimore. He was married in Baltimore around 1911 to a woman who had also been born in Germany. They had 12 surviving children.
Before coming the the USA he served as a member of the 1st or 2nd Prussian "Leibhusaren-Regiment" - these were ranking second behind the "Garderegimenter" (Guard Regiments)). They were stationed in Langfuhr, a suburb of Danzig (now: Gdansk) in West Prussia, an area which was seperated from Germany as Free City of Danzig in 1919 and ceded to Poland 1945. The regiments were dissolved in 1919.
