Thanks Karen for your followup. Unfortunately, I'm not related to the Lanark County Nolan's even though I was born and raised in the Ottawa area. My family moved there from Manitoba after the war years. You did touch on my great uncle George Nolin. Yes, I believe he did work for the railroad (CNR?)for many years in the Rainy River area. I remember seeing him around 1954 or so when our family visited him when we travelled through the area. He had probably moved there many years earlier from Minnesota He might have lived around such communities as Baudette, Central or the International Falls where other ancestors had lived. I believe his parents and their then young family moved there from Manitoba as well. I believe great uncle George died and is buried in the Rainy River area. I'm not sure when and where though? this is something I'm trying to find out. So, whatever more info you might have on this ancestor, I would be grateful to have. Regards, Bob Nolan.
