The brother of my ancestor James Noland (Samuel) was in the Civil War and married a woman in Quincy, Illinois. I always wondered why he was there; they lived in Missouri. I know they had a brother Jasper, and I have a copy of a letter which states the he was very ill and asking from leave from the war. I don't know if this the same man, but I would love to see a copy your letter.
