Hi Catherine,

Since my posting in August 2008 about Thomas Nolan and his father Christopher, I have since discovered that Christopher NOWLAN was transported to Australia on the Ship PHOENIX III in/around 1826, having been tried in Trim, Ireland.

Christopher was "assigned" to work for a Doctor located in Maitland, NSW, and subsequently received a Ticket of Leave, and a Conditional Pardon.

He applied for Permission to Marry c1840 to 15yo Mary EDWARDS, daughter of Matthew EDWARDS. (Matthew was also transported c1833 on Ship PORTLAND, thought to have been from Roscommon).

So, to correct information in my August 2008 posting:
The marriage I found in FreeBMD is NOT my Christopher and Mary!

However, I have not found any further information about their son Thomas, born 1842.

I do not think that we have a connection between our Nolans, unless it occurs in Ireland.

Hope this helps!

Megan in Sydney
