The surname was originally spelled Nogard. Isaac Nogard was born in Massachusetts in 1766. His son John was born in Massachusetts in the year 1798. He lived his adult life in Pharsalia, Chenango, New York. He and his wife Olive were the parents of eight children. I am not sure of the origin of the name Nogard, although I know of two Nogard families who were living in Quebec, Canada in the mid 1700's.
