I have done research on the Nodwell family who came to Canada in 1843 from near Magherafelt in Northern Ireland. They in turn were planted in Ireland from England sometime prior to 1725. I have met one of the Nodwells in Cork, and am convinced that they come from the same family tree (who would invent a name like Nodwell??). My understanding is that their ancestor married an Irish girl and settled in Cork. I do not know what the date was.

The family tree for the Nodwells in Canada is quite extensive - now nearly a thousand names. Common first names in England, Ireland and Canada are: Robert, William, John, Alexander, David.
