Yes I do believe there is a connection. Often I have had to spell out my name to have it correct. Indeed in Scotland where I live and in Ulster where my immediate ancestors lived ; the name was spelt and pronounced Noddins.However as far as I can ascertain the name is predominately found in Yorkshire, Durham, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire. Although Yorkshire has the greater number of our name.and from which I descend.
You have a good Scots name, are you from Scotland?
