WILLIAM JOHN NOCK born 1907
I am trying to trace the family of William John Nock born 1/12/1907 in Birmingham.
The only real information I have on him is he
was private in Wiltshire regiment 1930 living in Plymouth at 80 Grenville Road Plymouth in 1930 details taken from Son's birth certificate
Army no 101997 Taken from Marriage cert. address at time of marriage given as crownhill Hutments Crownhill plymouth
He married Alice Rosa Dicks in plymouth registry office on 13/2/1929 they had one child my father robert alfred john nock born 28/08/1930
William and his wife split up and he moved back to Birmingham. Alice his wife died of TB in 1941. Williams mother travelled to plymouth to claim the child (my father)but this offer was refused by Alice's parents.
Robert was told many years later that his father was dead.
As William was a former soldier I believe he would have been recalled for active duty at the start of WW2.
I believe Williams father to be John Brighton Nock born 1884 Birmingham and occupation given as staffordshire militia. I have no firm proof of this other than on William John Nocks marriage certificate is gives his father
Occupationas Army pensioner. Searching with these clues I have found his
Address 1901 census 39 villa street birmingham
Address 4 Villa street Birmingham 1881 census
John Brighton Nock had 5 siblings Mary born 1862 oldbury frederick born 1866 caroline/carolina born 1869 oldbury phebe/phoebe born 1877 birmingham and Leah born 1879 birmingham.
their address is given as 39 villa street birmingham in the 1901 census and they are listed as living with their widowed mother , mary Nock nee brown born 1841 in oldbury
If anyone has any information I would love to hear from them. I am certain I have family from my fathers side out there somewhere. Sadly my father passed away never knowing.
