Dear Dave,

Looks like you are still active on the genforum, so I'll reply here...

I have a Charles Nock (son of Johannes [John] Nock), b. 1829 in Germany, came to US 1865. He arrived in Pittsburgh and immediately communicated with a brother (I'm not sure which one--he had John, Joseph [?went to New Orleans, LA] and Phillip) in Perrysville, PA where he soon located. He eventually bought a farm in Killbuck Township, Allegheny County, around 1871.
Charles married (in Germany) Catherine Becht, daughter of Nicholas Becht. Her sister, ANNA, was Mother Superior in a convent at Mainz, Germany.

Charles and Catherine (Becht) Nock (my great-greatgrandparents) had a son Charles b. Germany Mar. 29,1857. He would have been about 8 years old when his family immigrated to America in 1865.

Charles (Jr.) married in 1883, Bertha Bierweiler, a native of Germany, dau. of Peter and Theresa (Egner) Bierweiler, who came to PA from Germany in 1870. Peter and Theresa Bierweiler (also my great-greatgrandparents) brought their children to the US, near Pittsburgh at Emsworth, PA.: Joseph, Clemmons, Rosa, Bertha (as above) Catherine.

Charles and Bertha (Bierweiler) Nock had three children:

1. Walter G. Nock

2. Leona A.K. Nock

3. Stefanie Bertha b.1893 d. l959 (my grandma)

My dad, grandson of Charles and Bertha, states that after his grandma died (?not sure when), his granddad remarried to a Minnie OneHoss. He remembers, as the youngest child, "entertaining" Minnie when she came to visit.

Stefanie Bertha Nock married Ackland H. Merry (b. 1889 d. ?1942) They lived in Emsworth, later in Ben Avon, then McKeesport, PA.

I presently don't have any other dates for the Nocks; I had most of this info from family records; there is a writeup from the Genealogical and Personal History of Western Pennsylvania, ed. John W. Jordan, Vol. 2, pp 862-863.

Hope you find a connection....
