Leo and Cliff,
I think you both already have the information that Henry Clay Noblett, age 8, and his brother Benjamin Franklin Noblett, age 12, are listed on the 1850 Osage Co. MO Census living with Henry Skaggs and his second wife Elizabeth (Momom) along with Asa Skaggs, son of Henry and his first wife Elizabeth (Noblett).Henry, age 18, is also listed on the 1860 Osage Co. MO Census still living in the same household with Henry Skaggs' widow (Henry died in 1855).Tonight I was searching through USGenWeb records on Rootsweb for the state of Missouri and found a six page record named "Misc.Osage Co. MO Court Records" which cover a periof between May 13, 1852-Feb. 14, 1853.On page four of the document is a paragraph listing guardians that had been appointed for minor children, dated Dec. 1852.One of the listings is as follows:"Henry Scaggs, guardian of Benjamin F. and Henry C. Noblett, minor heirs of Thomas Noblett, deceased."
Some other records I have found seem to indicate that Benjamin Franklin Noblett did go to California with his brother William Berry Noblett, and that both of them never returned to Missouri, but whether Henry went is not clear.Ira Mandeville Noblett did go to California and returned to Osage/Maries county after 1862 if the birth record for his daughter Ina is correct.
