Linda,
Sure, make me think after an evening of excess!I do live in New Orleans after all.
To comment:
1.] The simple answer to your first question is yes, you are on the right track but…
The primary problem I have is confirming the connection between the PA>NC NOBLETT line with my family in TN. That they are connected is fairly certain but HOW they connect I cannot say. I have tracked down the William Noblett born 6 Aug 1776 in Chatham, NC and Thomas Noblett born 13 May 1778 you mention and am fairly certain that I can prove they are NOT the William and Thomas who made their way to TN and MO. As for Elizabeth and the possibility that she is YOUR Elizabeth I cannot comment. Since I was trying to establish a male line I did not attempt to follow the females.
2.] On your second point I see less that I can agree with. ["I also found a Census record for William Noblett and John Bowman living a few households away from each other on the 1810 Henry Co. KY Census. If William Noblett and his family left Rhea Co. TN, went north across KY to Henry Co, they would have gone through Green Co. KY. Since the record shows that William and Elizabeth's father died in 1807, it would be perhaps a natural things for the unmarried Elizabeth to be living with her brother and his family."]
In the first place the John BOWMAN you mention cannot be my John BOWMAN [b. 1812] or his father [an Aaron BOWMAN] so that connection isn't there. Secondly, while you may be correct in your assumption, it is quite dangerous to work from 1810 to 1840 and much safer to work in the reverse direction.
3.] "My question for you is, Do you think that the two Noblett children, Franklin age 12 and Henry age 8, who are living with Henry Skaggs on the 1850 Census are the same as Benjamin Franklin Noblett, born bet 1837 and 1838 in TN; and Henry Clay Noblett, born 14 Jan 1842 in MO. that you have listed as children of Thomas Noblett and Elizabeth Casey."
Yes. I think this is correct.
4.] "Also, you have info posted that Thomas and Elizabeth Casey married in Rhea Co. TN in 1827. Since Adeline Noblett was born about 1832 and is apparently "without parents" in 1850,just like Franklin and Herny, and the fact they are living with other families, but only two households away from each other, that maybe Adeline is also a child of Thomas and Elizabeth and the sister of Franklin and Henry?
Possibly. I think Thomas & Elizabeth are most likely her parents but there is a fly in the ointment. The estate records in this part of Missouri are fragmentary at best [a CH fire if I recall correctly] and the few I have found are of limited help with this question.
Thomas NOBLETT's wife remarried to Abraham L SMITH, 14 September 1845 in Osage Co MO and left an estate 25 September 1846 in Pulaski Co MO. Mentioned are William Berry NOBLETT, Ira Mandeville NOBLETT, Myra Jane NOBLETT, Benjamin Franklin NOBLETT, John A NOBLETT and Henry Clay NOBLETT.
NO Adeline. Sigh. And I can't see any good reason WHY she would not be mentioned if she was Thomas' child. On the other hand she does not seem to fit well [age for starters] into William NOBLETT's family.
The only other option would seem to be that she was the child of one of William's other children but choices are limited. Adeline could be the daughter of the elusive Frank NOBLETT [b. @ 1814] who vanishes in the California goldrush or an illegitimate child of Nancy NOBLETT born prior to her 1833 marriage to Thomas MURRAY. Of course it's always possible that there is yet another, unknown child of William's who died before the family left TN and for whom we have no record.
Hope this helps, at least a little. Happy New Year.
Cliff
