Hon. James Jackson Nobles 1816 Laurens County Georgia

I am a descendant of Hon. James Jackson Nobles via his son Thomas Nobles (1879) and Mahala McMillan (1882). I have come across information about James that has confused me and I am hoping someone has the information.
1. His parents are listed in several locations as Hester Ann (or Easter) Nobles and John Tucker. If this is truly the case, was James Jackson born out of wedlock ~ unusual for the time period. Does anyone know if this was truly the case?
2. I have information that suggests he served as a Representative of Berrien Co. Ga. in 1859-1860. (McMillan and Allied Families copyright 1973) I cannot find anything that supports that piece of information but my experience with the author R. H. McMillan, Jr. is that his research is thorough and accurate. Does anyone know if there is any listing out there that supports this fact or perhaps knows the story? It is odd to only serve one year unless he was filling in for a Representative who had to relinquish the seat for one reason or another.
