Noble / Nobles- Nations - Holloway Families

My wife Reba and I and our neice Kathy Grace, with the wondeful help from cousins Terry Noble and Earl Clem, have been researhing the Noble / Nobles - Nations and Holloway families for for quite some time and are interested in their Native Indian Heritage.

I am a GGG-Grandson of Rev. John Noble / Nobles and Sarah Holloway, from Spartenburg S.C., who settled and died in DeKalb (now Etowah Co. Alabama) through their daughter Martha Patsy Noble, born about 1826 in either St. Clair or DeKalb Co, AL, she married Elijah B. Skillman who was born in 1818 in TN, probably about 1840-42, we think maybe in St. Clair County or DeKalb Co, Alabama.

Elijah and Martha (Noble) Skillman went on to settle in Tishomingo Mississippi. Martha and Elijah had five children: (1) Sarah Ann Losinda (Skillman) Herring, born 1842, (2) Isaac Thomas Skillman born 1845, (3) Mary Ann (Skillman) Stanfield, born 1847, (4) Lydia Ann Emeline (Skillman)Stanfield, born 1850, (5) Elijah Skillman, Jr. born 1852.

Martha Patsy (Nobles) Skillman first husband Elijah B. Skillman died in 1851 in Tishomingo,MS. Martha being Native endured many hardships, and then came back to DeKalb County Alabama, and she remarried to a Hiram Nations in 1856, they had no children together. Hiram Nations her second husband was of Native Blood, said to be Cherokee, he died about 1861 in St. Clair Co, AL, and she appeared to remain a widow the rest of her days. Martha Patsy (Noble) Skillman-Nations, died on April 22, 1909 in Alabama City in Etowah County Alabama.

All of Martha and Elijah Skillman's children remained in Etowah and Blount and surrounding Counties of Alabama, except Sarah Ann Losinda (Skillman) Herring who went to Texas.

We know very little on the Noble and Nations family, and Martha, any info you have on this family would be appreciated. Also anyone have any info on the parents of Rev. John Noble would be appreciated.

Some of our distant cousins in Arkansas who also came from Martha Patsy Noble and Elijah Skillman, said their grandmother, Sarah Losinda (Skillman) a daughter of Martha was very dark skinned, had dark hair and dark eyes. Also in my family from Isaac Thomas Skillman, their son, the Native influence had been very dominant. The families have always said we were Native American. Do you know of any Native American history in the Noble / Nobles family? We are trying to track were this came from. Creek or Cherokee?

Thanks again for all your help, and any additional info on the family will be appreciated.
