Dora Coble was my teacher in the fifth grade. From the "Union County and It's People" book page 99. In part because rather lenghty. The W. H. and Emmett Coble family moved to New Mex in 1918 from Miami, Tex.W.H. died 1922. Emmett m Dora Dixon and had 3 children,William Emmett born 1916 at Miami died 1929. Arless Juanita born Aug 25 1918 and Clifford D. born Aug 5, 1920. Emmett was Chief of Police in Clayton for six years in the 1940's. Clifford was in Air Force for over 20 years, he married Joan Babb in 1949, they have two children Cyndi and Steven. After retiring from the Air Force Clifford taught school in El Paso Texas at Coronado High School until his death by heart attack on Oct 18, 1978. Emmett died Dec 9 1956. Dora submitted this article in 1980 and was still alive, I assume she is deceased now. Her father Billy Dixon was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for a battle near Canadian Texas on Sept 12, 1874.
Article does not carry the daughter Arliss further but she did attend New Mexico State College at least two years.
The Cobles farm was close to where my grandparents homesteaded, about 25 miles north of Clayton on the Corrumpa Creek, their land holdings were extensive if I remember correctly but a lot was leased land. It may be that IF Joan (Babb) Coble didn't remarry and stayed in El Paso you could find her listed in telephone book.
The Clayton phone book \has two Coble families listed. Keith in the country near Stead # 374 8812 and probably two girls Koridawn and Kimberly in Clayton at # 374 9330.
