Is there someone living in the county seat of San Miguel County that would be willing to go to the courthouse and check the death index for the years 1902-1905 and see if there is a death listed for a John Lewis Casner. He was born in 1851 in IA but most often his birth places is listed as OR.

The story goes that he and two of his sons were working on a cattle drive and he died in San Antonino, NM in 1904 while on the cattle drive and that he is buried in an unmarked grave in the small cemetery in San Antonino.

When I did a check for the town of San Antonino, NM, there are three seperate towns. One in San Miguel County, one in Bernanillo County, and one in Socorro County. Unfortunately, I do not know which county he died in.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
