The town Bosque Seco doesn't really exist anymore. My husband's family is from the town and I've done a little research on it. It's location was near the corner of Salopek Road and Bosque Seco Road in Dona Ana County near Las Cruces NM. It was part of a Mexican land grant from the mid 1800s. Benevides is definitely a family name from Bosque Seco, as well as from Tortugas. May even be related to my husband. I have a photo of the church that used to be in Bosque Seco, taken in 1899. Let me know if you'd like more info.
