To J.Christiansen. Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy. When I visited my maternal grandmother, ggrandmother, and assorted great aunts in NM over the years, I noted the eyelids and hip problems, but only recently saw an article on this disease in a NY magazine. However, hospitals in Albq. and the UNM have noted this disease among Hispanic and French descendents. As I have French ancestors in NM and three lines descending from Geronimo Marquez, an early soldier-settler in NM, I was interested in various articles on this genetic problem. And yes, I did have droopy eyelids and difficulty with hips and walking prior to reading any articles this year, but have not been to MD clinic for testing, due to eye surgeries and transport. LD
