Lauren;
Copy of obit I have on Daniel O. VanHuss states he died 6 Oct.,1977 Petaluma,Sonoma Co.,CA.He was born in Wichita,Sedgwick Co.,Ks & was educated in Topeka,Shawnee Co.,Kansas.
Married to Josephine Somatis in Butte,Silver Bow Co.,Mt.Christmas Day,1941.
Served with US Marine Corps in China & Philippines pre-WW II.Also served in the South Pacific Theatre with them during the war.
Apparently after his service he enrolled in & graduated from mortuary school in St.Louis Mo before moving to Ft.Bragg Cal.in August,1963.
Buried in Evergreen Cem.,Ukiah,Mendocino,Cal.,10 Oct.,1977.
Survived by widow Josephine and 2 daughters,Dana & Vicki.
I take it that your are one of Dana's 3 children I have been provided info on by another researcher.
I,also have a question for you.
Do you have info of any kind on your Great Aunt,Virginia VanHuss.All I personally know is that she pre-deceased Josephine in death & may have Daniel since she isn't listed as a survivor in this brief newspaper clipping I have on Daniel which I pretty much have condensed above.
Unfortunately it does not list his parents in the obit,but I am 99.999% sure this is whom you are asking about.
I can tell you that Daniel Van Huss was born on 22 Dec.,1916 per SSDI records at rootsweb.com.His card was issued by the state of Kansas.
I had not added your specific family info to my computerized database that had been previously supplied to me as I stated above,but fully intend to now that we have made contact.
