Ft Union is a National Park and very interesting to see.It was one of the last stops on the Santa Fe trail before arriving at Santa Fe.Also used in the Civil War I believe. Many non hispanic soldiers who were stationed there ended up married to a local girl and therefore names like Regensberg, LeFevre, although not hispanic, took on the culture and language of the majority.Valmora is a little east of Watrous, which is tiny community on I-25 less than 10 miles from Ft. Union.Valmora is in a little valley/canyon andbecame a TB sanitorium. One couldn't find a more beautiful peaceful place to recover.
