Hi John
I have just seen your 1998/9 postings on Genealogy.com about your ancestor Hugh Walker. (I had e-mailed direct the mail id was dead, hope this reaches you, but if anyone else sees the post and help me contact please do so.)
Hugh Walker was christened in New Deer Aberdeenshire Scotland on 29th April 1845, and the details of his death are recorded on his parents gravestone in New Deer churchyard.
Hugh Walker was the brother of my great-grandmother Bathia Walker.
We have a lot of information on the Walker family from around the early 1800s through until around 1917 when the last of his sisters died, but literally knew nothing about Hugh apart from the fact he died at Fort Union in 1880.
If you are still interested in the Walker details in the U.K., essentially these are all around New Deer, please get in touch as I would be very interested in the details of Hugh's life in the USA, we had assumed he had no descendants but presumably that is not the case.
I live in Shropshire in the U.K.
Hope to hear from you.
