J(ohn) W(ill) Drake and his wife, Josie Drake, both born in OK were found on the 1930 census in Hobbs, Lea Co., NM. He was a laborer and apparently moved from job to job, 1920 in Carter Co., OK, in 1910, Pittsburg Co., OK.
He was in WWI in the OK 126 Spruce Sq.
John died of TB in the Veteran's Hospital in Muskogee, OK. He was buried in McAlister, Pittsburg Co., OK. His wife survived him.

On the 1930 census he was still working, belying the fact that he probably had TB already and possible went to NM for that reason. His wife worked in a laundry.

Are there any sort of records for 1920 to 1935 for Hobbs, Lea Co., NM, perhaps city directories, old phone books? Were there treatment centers in the county for TB? I've not found a history of the area. Does anyone know of a history online?
