I have just learned that the Silver City Museum, 312 W. Broadway, Silver City, NM has the Silver City Newspapers from 1873 - 1943 on microfilm at the Museum and that these are accessible by the public.
I am searching for an article concerning the murder of two CASNER brothers (William and Daniel CASNER) that occurred 1-20-1877 in Palo Duro Canyon, TX.
Another brother, John CASNER, and his son, John Lewis CASNER, were mining in the Silver City area, when they learned of the murders by reading of it from newspapers which were used to wrap supplies they had purchased in Silver City.
The article would have appeared in the newspaper sometime between 1-20-1877 and 3-31-1877.
Is there anyone in Silver City who might check on this for me and obtain a copy of the article. Willing to reimburse.
