Henderson Broome relatives out there,
Below is the transcribed OBIT that I pulled at the Gaston Co., NC Library for Mary Elizabeth Broome TORRENCE. You will note that it lists a sister, Mrs. J. W. Jones, of this city; two brothers, C. D. Broome, of Lockhardt, SC and W.G. Broome, of Clovis, New Mexico.
This solidifies that this is the correct Mary Broome. I looked at the Death Indices for Gaston co and find:
Gaston Co., NC Death Index
13 Dec 1956 JONES, Catherine Broome (W-F) 36-00
I will look up this OBIT when I go back to Gaston Co on 8/8/03.
As you recall earlier, I pulled the Death Cert for Mary Broome Torrence and it reflects her parents as :
F- HB BROOME born SC M-Nancy Smith born SC
It is my belief that this proves that the DICY or ADELINE are probably the same person that were nicknames for NANCY. I've always heard that Agnes was also a nickname for Nancy. It is also intresting that one of the siblings is also named NANCY Celina Broome that we have never found.
Since only one more sibling that has not been located could help tie the info together with his death certificate, we need to try to locate William G. BROOME in New Mexico. Hopefully his Death Cert will provide some clues to his mothers identity. Do you think the G. stood for GREEN?
