Margaret -

Dawson NM is a deserted coal mining town, located in NE New Mexico, in the mountains between Raton & Cimarron NM. At one time, there were 20,000 people living in Dawson (all miners)but it has been shut down for many years. About all that is there now is the Dawson Cemetery, which is what you are looking for, right? The old cemetery is still taken care of, I believe, even though it is located on the CS Ranch now. The descendents of the Dawson families hold a reunion/picnic every year at the cemetery and it is taking place this weekend. I had a flyer on this year's reunion, which also contained name/address of people connected with Dawson who have geneaology info about the people buried there, etc. However, I recently mailed my copy to another person who also had family buried there. If you want, you can contact her directly and I am certain she will be glad to mail you a copy.

Her name is Marjorie Colby. You can contact her by email at

Let me know if this helps! Good luck!
