I have a picture of George R. Hill and family taken in Rocksprings, Wyoming between 1888 and 1892 and George is wearing a heavy beard. I was told he always wore the beard after his face was badly burned in a mine fire. Don't know if that happened in PA, NM, WY or CO. I do know there were fires in PA and WY around the times he was there.
