Do you know if there was any mine strike activity in Blossburg in 1887? My dad, who died in 1986, told a story about his grandfather working as a mine supervisor and that his grandfather and family had to leave their house out the back when striking miners threatened to burn them out. Based on the birthdates and locations of their children and census records, great-grandfather was a carpenter in a mining town in Pennsylvania in 1880 and had a child born in New Mexico in 1887. My great-grandfather's mother, moved to Blossberg from PA around October 1880, was in Wyoming with my great grandparents in 1888 when they had another baby. Their last child born in Wyoming was in 1892 and then they moved to Hastings or Trinidad, Las Animas county, Colorado. My great-great grandmother died in Blossberg, Colfax county, NM between August and September 1898. I only recently got the information about the Blossberg connection. My great-great grandparents were all coal miners in PA from Scotland. All of the towns my great-grandfather lived in were coal mining towns, but with no 1890 census, I don't know if or where he was ever a supervisor in a mine.
