I don't know what happened to my C.C. I lose him
after his marriage in 1886 to Patricia Apodaca.
There were so many little coincidences that I
really thought I had found a relative of my father's.
My CC & the CC from Raton were born about a year
apart. I couldn't find another CC of the right
age, so I concentrated on CC from Raton.
According to my mother, my dad had stated that
after his mother died, his "uncles" had wanted
to adopt him & his younger brother. He had also
stated that his uncles were "professional men-
lawyers & judges." My family lived in Loretta,
not that far from Raton. CC in Raton was a
probate court judge in 1910.I had also come
across a message posting from a lady looking for information regarding her mother's adoption.
She wrote that the adoption papers had been
signed by Judge Celso Chavez in Raton,NM.
See what I mean?
CC from Raton had a daughter named Rosarito.
I thought maybe he had named his daughter after
my late grandmother, Rosita.
My brother told me that Dad had stated that
we had had a "Cop in the family". Supposedly,
a relative had worked in law enforcement on an
Indian reservation. Well, I just happened to
read an article about the Maxwell Land Grant.
There's CC- part of a posse. It was all just
too exciting. Very disappointing to have to
give up Celso Chavez from Raton. I'll just
keep plugging along until I find my Celso Chavez.
