The 15th New Jersey Volunteer Infantrywas organized at Flemington, New Jersey in July and August 1862. Three companies were recruited in Sussex County, two in Warren, two in Hunterdon, two in Morris and one in Somerset.

Looking to connect with anyone familiar with the history of this Civil War regiment. Especially interested in this regiment's actions on May 12,1864 at the battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse Virginia.

Reason: One of my anestors was a soldier in the 14th Ga. Infantry regiment (CSA obviously) who was killed in action that day during the fighting between these two units.I am hoping to learn more about the details of the fighting that day and happy to share info.
