Charles Major,69,Was Trumpeter in Legion,Knecht Bands
Charles F.Major,69,of 41 Chambers St.Phillipsburg,died yesterday at Allentown General Hospital,where he had been admitted Thursday.He was a foreman for the shipping and receiving department at the M.C.Ricardi Co,Alpha,and later worked for the United Ammunition Co,in Washington before retiring.Born Aug 9,1908,in Easton he was the son of the late Clarence Major and Rose Major Evans.He had resided in Phillipsburg for the last 46 years.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Easton,and Delware Lodge No.52.F& am,Phillipsburg.
He graduated from Easton High School in 1928.An advid musician,he played trumpet for Brown & Lynch American Legion Post band and the Charles Knecht Band,both in Easton.Surviving are his wife,Mrs.Helene Major;a daughter,Mrs.Sara Jean Brazis of Santa Rose,Calif.;a sister.Mrs.T.Madison Cowell of Easton;and three grandchildren.Services will be held at 11 a.m.Monday in the Rupell Funeral Home,Phillipsburg.Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine,Palmer Township.Delware Lodge No.52 F & AM will hold Masonic Services at the funeral home at 8 p.m. tomorrow.
