Samuel Chichester & Elizabeth Fitz

Trying to find parents for Samuel Chichester, b. abt. 1776 in England, who left his family and came to NJ, Warren County. He married Elizabeth Fitz {no
hyphen, no additional name}, January 15, 1807 Newton, Sussex Co, NJ.
Prior to moving to MI, they had 6 children all having been born in Warren County.

Samuel is reputed to have told one of his granddaughters that "left home at the age of 14, and went to live in NJ". He also eluded to having been born in
England, although in 1870, and 1880 Censuses that I have found so far, his children show him as having been born in either, NJ or NY [which might be their
own ignorance of fact, or transcription confusion in trying to read someone elses hand writing...NJ has the edge with 2 to 1].

His six children were:
Julia A
Mary
Emaline
James David {some question as to Davidson or Davisson... in 1870 he goes by James, in 1880...David!]
Samuel
Jane

Whole family moved to Michigan, where the Samuel for whom I am searching" died Oct 14, 1867 age 90"
S.E. of Augusta MI near Galesburg.

Any help much appreciated,
Jan Hart
