Westminster Presbyterian in Elizabeth, pastor's wife 1940's

Looking for more information on family of my maternal great great grandparents and daughter and her spouse: Reverend Joseph Byron Wise and his wife Florence Higman and they had a least one child, possibly their only child, or who lived past infancy--Ruth Higman Wise whose married surname was Buschgen-- who was my great grandmother. She was born in Russellville, Arkansas which is now in Pope County but I think the county has been split since she was born.

Rev. Otto William Buschgen D.D. died in 1948 while pastor of Westminster Presbyterian in Elizabeth, NJ and was spouse of Ruth Higman Wise Buschgen. There was a terrible fire at the church within a few years of his death.

Thanks for any help,
Terri Rine Dance

Most of what I have now is below:

Letter from George H. Trull: June 3, 1961

DEATH: Mrs. O. W. Buschgen on February 17, 1960 wrote to
her long time friend Rev. George H. Trull, requesting
him at her funeral to read a poem by Robert Richardson.
Manifestly she had in her mind her place of interment
in Evergreen cemetery, Elizabeth, M. J. It was on
June 3rd, 1961 that Mr. Trull complied with Mrs.
Buschgen's request by reading her supplication
expressed in fewer than 30 words in the poem, as
follows -

DEATH: "Warm summer sun, shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind, blow softly here,
Green sod above, lie light, lie light,
Good night, dear heart, good night, good night."

DEATH:
George H. Trull

BURIAL: Letter form George H. Trull states place of burial to be Evergreen Cemetery, Elizabeth, N. J. on June 3rd , 1961.

BURIAL: A photograph of the tombstone of Otto W. Buschgen shows it to be of a design meant to have another person added on the right side as you look at the photo--so it is possible that this is the cemetery in which he is also buried.

Someone cut out a little Geneaology article from a newspaper long ago and it was in the photo albums of Otto and Ruth Higman Wise Buschgen "WHO ARE YOU? A Wise?

Much is expected of any one bearing this name. It was first given to one who displayed great wisdom.

One of the first to represent this name and family in America was John Wise, who came from England on the ship Transport in 1635. He settled in Clifton, Accomac County, Virginia, where he served as Justice of the Peace of Accomac Court in 1663.

John Wise, a descendant of the immigrant, was appointed King's lieutenant in Accomac and Norfolk Counties, and was also made major of militia during the early struggles of the colony.

William Wise, his son, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.

1900 US Census for a town in Arkansas had Joseph Byron Wise as the census enumerator for his own area. It stated he and Florence Higman were both born in Louisiana.

I have a photocopy of Reverend Joseph Byron Wise' ordination papers which had been in the possession of my now deceased mother but the original and other family records have all apparently been "lost" by the young female relative who was on hand in that state right after her death(:0!!!

The original notarized copy of the ordination papers stating the particulars of the examination for scriptural knowledge Joseph B. Wise by "the Presbytery", his having satisfactorily passed that interview and character witnesses-- then of his setting apart by prayer and the laying on of hands by the Presbytery or elders of the El Dorado Baptist Church. Ordination and licensing of Rev. Joseph B. Wise.

Of special note in this letter is the name of one of the special Presbytery --an "Elder" G.G. Wise (I think this is a second G) as one of those examining him for fitness for the ministry.

Envelope says "Ordination papers"
"J B Wise"

page says

License of Rev. J. B. Wise The embossed seal is Notary

State of Louisiana and duly recorded in Notarial book
