I will be visiting Newton in Sussex County in early May, and am wondering what genealogy resources are available there or in nearby towns. I am especially interested in manuscripts, church records, Bible collections, town records, cemetery records, etc -- things that may not be published, filmed by the LDS, or on the Internet.
My Newton families include:
1) William KNAPP (1775-1857), who married Sarah Cutter (1785-1878) by 1805, and they had children Joseph, Samuel, Cyrus, Catherine, Benjamin, Charles, Hannah, Sarah, William, Manning and Elsie Knapp. William Knapp was born in Dutchess County NY and died in Newton. Sarah Cutter was born in Woodbridge NJ.
2) John Auble (1780-1831), who married Anna Rau (1787-1860) in 1804, and they had children Elizabeth, David, Hampton, and Robert Auble. John Auble was born in Hunterdon County NJ and died in Green NJ. Anna (Rau) Auble was born in Morris County NJ and is buried in Stillwater NJ.
David Auble (1817-1894) married Sarah Knapp (1820-???) in 1844 and had children William, Frances, Charles, Katherine, Anna and Cora Auble. This family moved from Newton NJ to Newark and then to Terre Haute IN before 1870.
I have more complete info on these families at www.genealogy.com/users/s/e/a/Randy-Seaver/ in the "Ancestors of Emily Kemp Auble" file.
Thasnks for any help on Newton resources.
