My connection is from my mother's side who is related as follows: Joseph Johnson=Carrie DeHart (my gr gradparents)
James H DeHart=Sarah M Cowell
John I DeHart=Maria Suydam
Peter A Suydam=Leah York
Abram Suydam=Jane Voorhees

James DeHart was born "near New Brunswick" according to his statement made in a Civil War Pension. His death certificate states parents as John I DeHart and Maria Suydam. A diary in our family mentions visiting his relatives in New Brunswick. (Sarah DeHart sister of James).

John I DeHart and wife Maria Suydam are burried in the Voorhees-Nevius burying grounds. Along with some brothers
of James DeHart. John I DeHart had a sister Sarah who married Peter Hageman, a brother Henry, Peter and Abraham, who I haven't found anything more yet.

Peter A Suydam was from Franklin Twp. where he died before
1808 when he is mention in court records. Maria's brother Abraham P Suydam was appointed as guardian of Maria. Leah York is mentioned as remarried to a James Van Cleef. He sold the farm in Franlin twp. and I can find no futher mention of him so far.

This is how I'm connected to the Voorhees-Nevius Burying grounds.
