Benjamin Rose, Born 12 Apr 1760/1761 Rariton or Readington NJ. Died 13 SEP 1805. Married Mary PICKEL.......
Benjamin Rose is buried in the cemetery here in New Jersey that is diagonally across from my house. The dates match exactly. I have lived here for 11 years and have always wondered who he was. His and his wife's stones are the oldest in the cemetery (Mt. Bethel Methodist Cemetery, in Mansfield Township, Warren County (formerly Sussex County), NJ. The local DAR has put a Revolutionary War marker on his grave.
His wife's stone shows his wife's name as being Elizabeth, and not Mary. If I remember correctly, and I can check if you're interested, her date of death was 1803. They are the only two Roses buried in that cemetery. I believe it is possible that her name may have been Mary Elizabeth, but only Elizabeth is mentioned on the stone.
