Unfortunately deaths were not recorded by the NJ government before 1841. The church MIGHT have a reason for death, but not likely... if anything, their burial records might provide the cause of death. It's uncommon to find for that era, but not completely out of the question.

Otherwise there might be a posting in either the newspapers or town newsletters of the day. I'm not familiar with which were available in Hunterdon Co.
