A silk engraver made the plates for transfering patterns to the fabric, actually my great grandfather who came to America from England brought many of the designs for pasley and calico printing. His son, (my grandfather) had a silk warping business in Paterson, actually on Preakness Avenue in Totowa now.
Manchester is in Lancashire, and is not really that close to Mc...
Don't know anything about Lilie but her maiden name.
