The Silk Mills of Paterson, New Jersey

An obscure entry on a 1930 census lead me to reading about the silk mills in Paterson. There are some sites with excellent historical content on this once thriving industry in Paterson.

For those of you who are from the Paterson area, and can remember the mills of the 1930's era, I would love to hear your accounts of the Paterson people and silk mills.

One entry on the census indicated having a job as an "Examiner" in a silk mill. Any ideas on what an examiner was?

Regards,
Allen Thigpen
