The history left to me on my emigrant ancestor, Johann Adam Wirth 1727-1806 (Hochstenbach, Westerwald/Palatine to PA) said that he had relatives in NJ, but I could never track them down. Hunterdon County was mentioned. The name was spelled many ways in the early years so you must check all variations including Verts, Virts, Vert, etc. Have you tracked your Werts back to the earliest one in that area. I know that several Werts from eastern PA moved to that area of NJ. Have you found any with first names: John, Adam, Peter, George, Jacob, Philip, Joseph, Henry, Andrew or Christian?? Have you checked my posted queries under Wert, Wirt, Wirth, Wertz in GenForum???
