Don't know when Lewis and Sarah were married. Do know that they had two children. Rumor in the family has it that Mabel, was not a Hurd, but was from Sarah's first marriage.
But Census records have her listed as a Hurd.
They also had a son, Earl B. Hurd, born May 3, 1900."

Lucinda, do you have the 1900 census for Lewis?

I find a Lewis HURD and children Carrie (19), Mabel (2) and William (2/12) in New Jersey, Morris County, Mount Olive Township. No wife is listed, although Lewis is shown as Married rather than Divorced or Widowed.

Could William--listed as 2 months old on June 1, 1900--be the child you refer to as Earl? Or perhaps Earl was Sarah's child, and she married Lewis later?
