Unknown Maxson - Shrewsbury, NJ abt 1770

Hello,

I hope someone can shed some light on this. I can trace my Maxson line back to Britton C. Maxson b abt 1790 in Shrewsbury, NJ. The LDS database states that his parents were Joseph Maxson and Hannah Stout (both b abt 1770). I recently ran across a deed which states the following:

Abigail (Knott) Maxson b abt 1770 (Daughter of David Knott and Isabel Little) is shown having the following direct heirs:

1)Britton C Maxson 2)John Maxson 3)George Maxson

The deed does not list Agagail's husband but I have learned from other sources that Abigail was married to (?)Maxson, before 1790 and she is listed in a will in 1790, so I know she was still alive about the time Britton was born. I am trying to find which Maxson she was married to. The deed does not agree with the LDS data (I think the deed is a better source) unless ALL of the following occured, 1) Abigail died young, 2) the missing Maxson is Joseph, and 3) He married Hannah Stout when he remarried. Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gene Gant
